The 5-7 age range is a crucial period for a child. Why? Because it's the transition to school, a time of change as they open themselves up to a world full of learning and discovery. The best toys for 5-7 year olds are those that ease this transition and provide fun outside of school!

Starting school means starting a routine . This routine is often stricter and more structured than at daycare, and children are often expected to be more independent. Games that develop their sense of autonomy, their understanding of time (hours, seasons, days of the week), and multi-step activities can be helpful in easing this transition.

He's starting to read and write . So, you can buy him games or books that help him develop these skills. But be careful! To distinguish it from schoolwork, the game must be fun and enjoyable . The same goes for numbers and math : it's possible to incorporate them into the game, as long as it remains fun !

His logical reasoning becomes stronger and his attention span increases . Then he can play more complex board games or card games where there can be more than one rule at a time. He can do a puzzle with between 20 and 50 pieces (and more if he has an interest in this type of game).

It is also at this age that children begin to know themselves better, to understand what they truly like , and to develop interests and desires that may differ from those of their parents. Therefore, it can be beneficial to expose them to different types of activities and/or more specific themes : the arts, music, sports, space, and science.
